A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, four flashes radiating from center fess towards dexter fess and chief and sinister fess and chief respectively, in base two mountain Purpure and Azure both fimbriated Or. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Gold scroll inscribed MOVE AND FIRE in Blue letters.
The mountains are representative of the Huachuca Mountains at the base of which Fort Huachuca is located and is the location of the activation of the organization. The four lightning bolts represent the direction and speed at which the personnel of the organization arrived at the point of activation.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 14 November 1942.
